When i hook up my Panasonic USB(ed) camera, i get to the
part where im capturing the video and it just shows a
black screen when it should show a blue one. what do i
do?? Thanks.

Is it a digital camera? If so get a firewire connection, this is the only
real way to go. If it's an analogue camera, then you need an analogue
capture card and the composite leads to connect. USB is used really only for
stills.
