I feel like I've tried everything! I've had no problem getting the video off of my Sony mini Dv handycam, but I can't get sound to save my life! I'm using the camera's usb port and the cable that came with it. I captured a clip with sound to the Pixela Image mixer software that came with the camera using the same method and it worked fine. It is not muted, I chose the source of the sound to be "video", and just for good measure I've tried all of the other options that I could find, HEELLLPPP!!
Thanks all, Alex

MM2 is made to work with the firewire connection to a digital camcorder, not
a USB one.... USB connections come with the camera, but you need to purchase
the firewire cable separately.... and a firewire card if your computer
doesn't have one.

See the Digital Camcorders > Sony page of my site for some notes, including
a post about using Image Mixer to export the movie to DV-AVI for use in MM2.

Bummer, I don't have a firewire card, do you really think that that will make the difference?

Well, it'll make it such that you'll get the full digital video quality and
be able to capture it to your computer easily.

You can use the USB route for somewhat lower quality video and use the
software that came with the camcorder to do the capturing and convert the
files to something MM2 can handle.... as long as you understand the hurdles
and can get over them easily.
