(the codec Xvid is divX spelt backwards.......)

The wikipedia entry has the caution that the "neutality" of
the article is in dispute, nontheless at bottom of article are

My DivX codec was part of my Roxio software, so that main
name assures it to be compliant and tested!
But my brief surf for info reveals that your fathers PC may
have any variant of DivX? Including an all domineering
version that is near impossible to reverse?
