I am running xp pro fully updated. I am using a panasonic NV-DS33EG video
camera to video my home movies. My problem is this.If I use Pinnacle studio 9
to capture the video, when i select capture then select 'write a cd' and
choose the format,it goes through the motion of 'rendering' the file then
writes it to cd.no matter which format i choose to write it,the only thing
on the finished cd is folders named CDI, EXT, MPEGAV, SEGMENT, and VCD.I
have tried using Windows Movie Maker and get the same result. I saved the
file to my hd as a wmv file and burned to cd with nero.Again it goes through
the motions of encoding and burning but i get the same result.could anyone
please tell me where i am going wrong in this attemp to burn to cd.I do not
have a DVD burner so that is not an option.I know that the video file will
fit onto a cd
thanks in advance
alan

You are creating a VCD. That's exactly correct for a VCD. Or do you mean
there are no files in these folders?

Did you try VCD Easy as your software?

The length of your video should be about 55 minutes to fit on a VCD... is
that about correct for your footage?

Many standalone DVD players can play VCDs and/or SVCDs. Some DVD player
software can play VCDs directly. Nero Showtime can play them, also ATI has
a Video CD player application which is bundled with their video card
utilities.

DVD player software that cannot play VCD format discs might still be able to
play the video files (.DAT or .Mpeg) on the cd if you open the individual
files using the player's File menu.

If all you want to do with your .WMV (etc.) files is archive them on CD then
just save them directly onto a Data CD or DVD rather than converting to
Video CD or DVD format.
