I'm having a strange problem with my dvd-rw drive. I recently upgraded my
computer with new core parts to make it a 64bit system with windows vista. I
kept my old dvd-rw drive though.
I can use the drive to read dvds without any trouble, but whenever I try to
burn a dvd the computer shuts down instantly as soon as I push the burn
button. does this in any burning software I've used.
I thought it might be the firmware so I updated that which did change the
problem. Now it shuts off immediately after doing the lead-in.
the dvd-rw drive model is Asus DRW-1608P3S
it worked perfectly fine under windows xp. so what I'm wondering is if its
just not compatible with windows vista (home premium) or is there something
wrong with my hardware/driver?
