Cannot Browse to or Navigate to Files in Folder List

This problem comes and goes. It's happened before and then has "magically"
starting working again correctly. So, again I am at a loss because the
problem's back.

I import pictures, docs, pdf's, ppts...everything into Frontpage.

When doing an Insert Hyperlink and looking at the window pane underneath the
Look in address bar in the Dialog Box, my files in their respective folders
in the Folder List are not showing up. I cannot Navigate to, Look in, go Up
One Level, or Browse for these files. (Please understand: I can see all of my
files in my Folder List, but not when I am doing an Insert Hyperlink). The
only pages that show are the Open pages or my main URL. This is also a
problem, say, when doing a Photo Gallery or any other time that I need to
browse for files. I know that I can drag and drop but I'd rather navigate to
find my files.

I have tried Rebooting, Recalculating Hyperlinks, running FPSE health check,
etc. - all of the things one should normally try. Nothing is working.

Again, this has happened a couple of times in the past and then one day I'll
come in and it's working again. It's very frustrating.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hey Terri,

Tell us your specs first:
Web editing software? FP2000? FP2002? FP2203?
Your computer's computer operating system? Window XP? Window 2000?
What kind of internet connection do you have? Cable? phone dial-up?

>From here, we can start narrowing down to your issue.

With your site open, click Tools > Customize.
On the Dialog that opens, click the Options tab.
On the options dialog, click the button "Reset toolbar and menu usage data"

Close and re-open FrontPage and your web.
Then open the hyperlink dialog and see if the files and folders are browseable.

Steve, unfortunately no, it still does not work (but I hadn't tried that
before). It continues to only show my main url in the Look in address bar
(with my open "e" htm page that I opened) in the window pane. Other
suggestions of what I should try? Thank you for your help.

How are you opening your web, or the page you are editing.

For a disk based web, the "Look in" address bar should only display the folder with the blue
globe icon and the folder name for the folder containing the web

For a server based web, it should show the web name if in IIS, and for a remote web it
should show the domain, such as myweb.com

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner.
Run the functions that clear the FrontPage Temporary files, and the Cache(*.web) files.

Then see what happens.
