When I log on as Administrator, everything works fine-- I
can browse to any file, any disk. But when I log in as
myself (also an admin. account) and insert a disk, I am
unable to read the contents in Windows Explorer/My
Computer, although autoplay will launch any self-running
installers/music cds/video dvds. When I try to select the
drive letter, the mouse pointer instantly jumps
away to another drive (I use several
partitions on multiple drives).

This is a new issue (meaning it was working ok) on a
relatively recently installed XP Pro system. I tried
switching drives (and re-assigning drive letters) to no
avail. No error messages to indicate a problem. Thank you
for helping.

Peter, you may have a corrupt User Account. Try creating a new one and
deleting the old.
