Help,

I cannot attachment a file to an outlook 2007 Email template after
installing Office 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2) from Microsoft. This
worked just fine with Office 2007 SP1 installed; I could open the
template from my desktop (without Outlook running in the background)
and attach a file. Here are the steps to recreate the problem with
Office 2007 SP2 installed on the computer.

1. Open Outlook 2007 running Office 2007 SP2
2. Create a new email
3. Do a “Save as” saving the email as an “Outlook Template” (*.oft)
to
your desktop.
4. Close all programs, including Outlook
5. Then double click on the newly created template on your desktop to
open the template
6. After the template opens, try attaching a file to the template
7. Notice that the file does not get attached to the email template

How can I fix this so I can attach a file to an outlook template after
opening it from my desktop?

Thanks for any help.

I can duplicate this, but it's not as bad as you think. The attachment *is*
actually there. It's just the display of the composed message that's messed
up. It also appears to be a problem only if Outlook is not already running.

Thanks for the reply.
I have found that if I use the “Restore Down” or “Restore up” button
the attached file shows up in the email. Here is another problem; if I
then double click on the attached file (pdf), the pdf file will not
open until I close the outlook email template, then the pdf file
opens.
I have uninstalled office 2007 sp2 from 3 computers trying to get the
template to work again the right way. On one of the computers the
template started work again when it was back to office sp1, on the
other two computers it did not start working again when back at office
sp1.
I need to get this fixed, because I use this type of outlook template
from inside of a lot of other programs to send emails.
Do you know what might fix this problem with the template when office
2007 sp2 is installed?
Would you also know where I can send an email to, to tell Microsoft
about this to see if they will look into it and fix it?

Thanks Again.

Microsoft knows about the problem already. Their timetable for fixing it
will depend on the difficulty of that fix and what other issues are higher
in the priority list. Given that there is a relatively easy workaround --
starting Outlook before running the template -- I suspect that it's pretty
low on the list.
