I am trying to add domain users to a machine running XP
pro service pack 1 (in a win 2000 domain).
I can log onto the XP machine as a domain administrator,
but when I attempt to add users, the only location it will
let me search for users from is the local machine. The XP
machine HAS been added to the domain, and I can log on to
the domain and access domain resources just fine. This
problem is not limited to one machine either. ALL of the
new XP machines that we just got in are having the same
problem, and I am also getting the EXACT same problem on a
completely different 2000 domain, in a completely
different building.
What am i missing?!?

Hi

For WinXP, this is somewhat messy.

After selecting "Add" on the local group, you should have a dialog box
named "Select Users or Groups".

Be sure that the *domain* name is selected in "From this location", and not the

computer name. To change if necessary, click on the "Location..." button.

Then just enter part or all of the user name in the box labeled "Enter the
objects names to select ..." and then click on the "Check Names" button.

Instead of entering part or all of the user name, you can get a list by
pressing the "Advanced" button and then "Find Now".

First, thanks so much for responding!
Second, THATS JUST IT!, the "from this location" will ONLY
allow me to use the local machine! I am unable to select
the domain as a location. Any further ideas?
