Windows XP Home, SP3 ,,, installed HP scanner software, New Hardware Found popped up and installed drivers. The G4050 flatbed shows up in Device Manager as "Unknown" but when expanded shows as HP Scanjet G4050. The scanner is not listed in the Control Panel Scanners & Cameras folder. when I click on the "Add Imaging Device" link the wizard never appears.
Have tried:
1. Made backups then removed 5 Keys associated with this wizard, Thought MAYBE windows would rebuild them = no joy.
2. Replaced the 2 files for this wizard with backup files: sti_ci.dll & wiashext.dll = no joy.
3. Ran sfc /scannow = no joy
Nothing I do will get that wizard to run.
Any help appreciated
