This error is documented in Knowledge Base article 141117 Common Cause of
"Error Performing Inpage Operation" Explained
(http://support.microsoft.com/?id=141117). The article specifically mentions
copying from or to a floppy disk, but it mentions possible media problems as
the cause for the error. I would recommend running a Chkdsk on the drive(s),
and after it completes, try Windows Explorer again.
