What about if you type address with http prefix like
http://www.anywebsite.com?
There have been many reports about having type complete urls recently. I
cannot help you to fix the problem. The original reason for your problems
might be spyware/parasite/hijacker, which has rerouted IE's default search
engine to somewhere else. To get maximum number of search requests the
parasite has messed with registry and disabled normal url recognition
procedure. But when the search engine is not working, you cannot browse
anyhing unless you type full URLs.
If that's the case, try to search help from web (Google, Microsoft Knowledge
base, etc).
