I just got a new laptop and copied the outlook.pst and archive.pst files for
use in the new Outlook (OL 2007 on both old and new laptop). The Outlook.pst
is functioning fine. However, there's a problem with the archived messages.
I opened the archive.pst data file and confirmed it's in the correct
directory. But, I can't see any of the archived email messages. The correct
archived email folders are viewable, but the messages aren't there. Help!

Firstly there is no correct folder/directory, there is a default folder.
What was the size of the archive file in the old PC compared to new PC, and
were the archive msgs visible in the old pc?

re: folder/directory, I just meant that I confirmed that the file directory
for autoarchiving is correct/confirmed. And yes, the messages were visible in
the old pc.

I'd bite the bullet on this, but when I tried to archive "new" old messages
(6+ months old), the messages disappeared too. The folders are visible in
the Archive Folders section, but the messages aren't visible. I'm stumped,
but wary to archive any additional messages for fear they'll disappear, too.

Check your archive settings, that you are not deleting, and to the path /
name of the current archive file name

Neither the "Delete Expired Items" or "Permanently Delete Old Items" boxes
are checked off. Plus, I re-verified that the current archive file path/name
is correct (that's what I originally meant about confirming the directory).

Any other ideas?

Check that you have the correct set of archive folders open, also check your
Views (show all...)
