I am looking for Cannon DCI-3e inktanks with waterproof ink, for printing
business cards.
Also wondering if the ink will be a problem using it in the printhead that has
not had waterproof ink thru it?
Any source for the inktamks would be appreciated.

Good quality ink is waterproof on the right paper, specifically high
quality photo paper like Canon Photo paper, Office Depot Premium Gloss,
and I think RedRiver.

You could use 8.5x11 sheets to print about 10 cards per sheet and then
cut the sheets as needed. With Canon ink tanks and Office Depot paper
that works out to about 40 cents per card...a bit pricey unless you only
want a few dozen cards.

With ink refills and non-Canon paper, it works out to about 10 cents per
card.

I'm glad we can totally agree about the paper, even if the ink monitor thing
was a little confusing. Red River paper is also waterproof. I do think you
meant to say with Canon ink and Canon paper when quoting 40¢ per card. Your
other figure of 10¢ per card is about what I came up with using good refill
ink and either RR or OD paper, but I would base that on 4up prints and not
10up business cards.. Actually for me using OD paper it comes out to less
than 3¢ per 4up card since I found a glitch on the OD website a couple of
months ago and was able to buy 1600 sheets at $8.19 per 100. I'll probably
never get a bargain like that again. I know Canadian prices are different
than US, so that may account for the discrepancy in cost figures. FWIW, in
printing business cards, if the original poster uses a layout program like
Microsoft Publisher, 12 cards per sheet can me produced if done in landscape
orientation.

Actually that's with OD paper and Canon ink. With Canon paper and ink, I
think it comes out to about 54 cents per card, assuming 10 cards per
sheet again. And this is in CDN funds of course.

I pay $69 per 100 sheets of 8.5x11 photo paper at Office Depot,
including tax.

In the US OD is $38.99/100 which is still a more than Red River at
$33.99/100. Even with the increased shipping cost and at the Canadian
exchange rate it would seem like RR would be a better buy. When I saw the
prices I didn't figure they were valid especially since the 25 sheet package
was at regular price and the 4x6 size was $24.99/100. Since the order I
placed was over $50.00, shipping was also free. Needless to say OD fixed
that little benefit in a hurry.
