When I cancel a meeting for which a resource has been booked. That
appointment remains in the resource's calendar with "Canceled:" tacked on it in the subject. I want the appointment to be automatically deleted in the resource calendar instead of having the appointment remain in the calendar marked as cancelled. I'm using Exchange 2000 (SP3) and Outlook 2003. It does delete the appointment in my calendar. I cannot find anyway to do this. Microsoft has done so much to allow one to schedule and manage resources automatically it seems this would be the final step. Please let me know if this is possible.

Are you cancelling or deleting the event in the resource calendar?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Tim Irelan via OfficeKB.com asked:

I am cancelling the appointment in the Meeting planners calendar. When I click on "cancel Meeting" it asks me if I want to "send cancellation and delete meeting". I click "OK" and the window closes. Then I click the "Send" button. Instead of deleting the meeting from the resource calendar, it marks it as "cancelled" and changes the time to free. I'd like it to automatically delete the meeting in the resource calendar instead of marking it as "free" and leaving it there.

Select the X to delete the meeting. It's a button on the toolbar. You could
also right-click on the appointment you wish to delete.
