I notice that the 9800XT is priced at $499 US or $749 Can on the ATI
website. If I do a currency conversion I get $499 US = $663.63 Can. ATI
should be selling them at the same price ( taken into account the exchange),
especially since ATI is a Canadian compsany !

Yep, that Canadian dollar has been improving by leaps and bounds over the
last few months so ANY price set a few months ago will be high in CDN$.
Your best bet is to buy from a company in the US that will ship to Canada
not just video cards but anything..

Don't be too surprised, Japan has done that for years.
Who do you think pays for ATI to be competitive in world trade?
The Canadian consumer!

Welcome to the weird world of currency. I was looking at a Canon camera in
the US for $999. Here in Canada it sells for $1599 it should be more like
$1400.

You might also notice the prices in Europe and even more so the UK are even
higher.

Did you consider diffrence between US and CAN VAT (value-added tax) ?

The HST in Canada is 15% where I live and you pay it on items you bring in
from the US or buy within Canada, so it would still be cheaper to buy it
from ATI in the US and have someone ship it to you in Canada. This is
because of the strong showing of the Can $ against the US $.

Par for the course given that we've been under Liberal rule federally for so
many years and are no doubt used to being ripped off by now.

Go to www.tigerdirect.ca they have it for $1322 which includes the kit lens.
Bought mine for $1599 2 weeks ago (bummer) but it's a fantastic camera.
