Can you "span" one mirror set to another?

Hi, I have a hardware RAID 1 that I would like to span
onto another RAID 1. I am stuck with limited C drive
space (mirrored 9 gigs)i would like to add a couple of
146 gig drives that I've mirrored on the same hardware
controller. The volume I'm trying to span is the boot
volume currently listed as "simple" in DM.

Thanks

Tom

If yr saying can you clone the boot disk to another larger disk then yes, it
matters not that its a mirror raid.
But if yr saying something else, I dont follow

Well yes I was trying to find out how to "Join" two sets
of mirrors together via "spanning" in Disk manager. My
goal is to leave the original Mirror set there and add
another mirror set to it to expand the volume space.

Clearer?

Thanks

Tom

As far as I'm aware mirror raid functions only with two hd's so I dont
believe you can 'span' the mirror.
You can use multiple disks with a striping raid set up, providing the raid
controller supports this.

Read the instructions in the raid controller about setting up a "Raid 0"
(spanning)and a "Raid 1"(mirror) at the same time. If the hardware won't
do it then you aren't going to be able to do it.

Depends on if your a pestimist or an optimist.

9 Gg + 147 Gig = 156 Gig. A big gain.

147 Gig + 9 Gig = 156 Gig. A little gain.

Throw out the piddly little 9 gig drives. If 9 Gig
more is needed, then maybe you need to get a pair
of 200 gig drives.

A more important question is whether your controller
can handle drives larger than 137 Gig.
