Can you send Events to a group?

Our office will be migrating from GroupWise to Outlook next month. If
you're familiar with GW, you can send the various items to said
groups, whether it's email, phone message, notes, tasks, etc. We rely
heavily on Notes sent to various groups to let people know who is out
on a particular day. The note shows only on the specified days.

As I understand it, GW Notes will convert to Outlook Events. I'm good
with that because they work pretty much the same way. We'll just have
to learn to look in a different place. What I can't figure out, and I
don't have Outlook to play with, is whether you can send an event to a
contact group. I can't imagine you wouldn't be able to, but there are
plenty of failures built into Microsoft products that bring me to
question whether this would be one of them. (I'm dealing with a
random change of Excel hyperlinks when neither the spreadsheet nor the
things I linked to have moved, and Microsoft not having ANY way of
globally changing hyperlinks. But that's another story for another
day.)

Can anyone help?
