In the past, I had a fax coversheet that I used from a template on Microsoft
Online. The date field on that sheet would automatically update to that
particular day's date everytime I used it. Evidently there was a setting
that allowed this to occur, so what was it? What do I manipulate to make the
date field automatically update itself everyday?

Usually the template contains a CreateDate field, which updates only upon
creation. If you're reusing documents, you may want a Date field, but you'd
do better to create new documents based on the template instead. Press
Alt+F9 to see which field code you have. If you don't see a field code, it's
because the field has been overwritten by plain text.

Hi Jenna,

Depending on your preferences, you might want to use a DATE or PRINTDATE
field. The DATE field updates every time the document is opened, while the
PRINTDATE field updates only when the document is printed. The CREATEDATE
field only shows when the document was created, or saved using 'Save As'.

Cheers
