I am a woodturner and visit Alt.binaries.woodworking. to see what others are
doing. Since some image files are so large and not all are in my field of
work, I select only those that wish to see. Many time I will then go on to
other work while these are downloading. With OE when I came back I could see
which messages were downloaded but not read. How can I do this in Windows
Mail

It should be the same as OE. Try View | Current View | Show downloaded
messages.

This only shows downloaded messages. In OE I could leave in Show All but the
Icon would change to show which messages were downloaded but not read
