Hi. Recently when I start up my laptop, sometimes the security center
and Windows firewall get disabled and I get this balloon saying that
my pc is at risk. I cannot enable Win firewall. I get a message saying
that due to an unknown reason my security settings is disabled. I have
AVG anti virus and anti rootkit plus spybot S&D. A couple of days ago
spybot found something saying that its a virus disabling win fire
wall. I removed it and now spybot does not find anything but still 3
out of 5 times I start my pc I have the same prob. Does anyone have
any idea what I should do to fix it? Thanks.

I think AVG temporarily disables the firewall when it updates.
have you got AVG set to update regularly?

I think the command to stop the winfire wall is a "net stop" command.
It's quite common the virus you've got to be bundled with something else
which then does something nasty after this.

If you get a 3rd party firewall such as ZneAlarm or Sygate, then these
should prompt you if another program is trying to stop the firewall.
