Is it possible to create more green/blue re-locatable virtual folders in the
user folder?

OK, I have realised that they aren't actually virtual folders. Virtual
Folders is still something I need to learn more about.

What I am referring to are the special folders in the User Folder that are
coloured green/blue and are actually redirectable shortcuts.

It sounds to me like you're actually referring to the user shell folders
(Documents, Music, Videos.) They're blue-green and special. They're also
redirectable, though they're not shortcuts.

These are real file folders and get their special functionality and icons
from a hidden file inside the folders. You can certainly create more folders
in the user folder and name them whatever you like, but they won't get the
special color and icons.

So they get the special properties from the desktop.ini files? Would this
also give the Location tab in Properties? I have a whole load of extra
folder icons, and I want to make some extra special folders, like Work,
etc..

I too would like to be able to create these types of shell folders, at least
within the 'Users Files" folder. Been looking for that as well myslef.
Junctions/symlinks do not do the same thing as those folders do.
Will also need to address how when you move them/change their location, of a
call is made to the C:\users\username\<folder> and it is not there (because
you changed the location) it will create it again. Then in the 'Users
Profile' folder you see two of those folders. One in the new location, one in
the old. FAULTY!

I don't know who asked the question because posts are getting separated from
their threads somehow. The question I see is "can you create more Virtual
Folders?" Vista RTM uses the term "searches" for VFs.

I hope this covers what you want to do. If you want a different type of
"shell folder" speak up.

Congrats to the VP of the US who has been confirmed as a liar in a courtroom
this morning, got 5 deferments in the eleite white Chickenhawk tradition,
and pushed his lies to promote the Dover Coffin business--it's booming.
Mr.VP are you chicken to testify as well? Motions yesterday indicate you
are. The prosecution should haul your fat ass in.

Chad.

We are talking about the special User Shell Folders. Virtual folders are
different things. Those are the live Search folders, with the standard ones
located User Folder\Links\Searches.

I have talked about this a couple of times recently within this newsgroup.
Keith Miller seems to know about these User Shell folders.
