Can you configure Norton Antivirus 2004 to run on Windows Messenger 5.0

Hello
I was wondering if anyone can help me ?
I downloaded Windows Messenger 5.0 and was wondering if
there is a way that you can configure it to run with
Norton Antivirus 2004 as I when I go into Norton it say
Windows Messenger is not protected, only protected on 4.7
