when i change the category of a task, it puts a copy of that task into the
new category and leaves a copy in the current category. if you then mark it
complete, it marks it complete under both categories.

is there a way to just do a move? the task moves to the new category when
the category is changed for that task.

thanks for your help

Are you removing the other category? Sounds like you're just adding a second
category which would have the results you mention.

Are you viewing your tasks in a view grouped by category? What steps are you
using to change the task's category?

i am viewing my tasks grouped by category. i change the task's category by
right clicking on the category and selecting the new category. the task then
shows up under the new category, but also shows up under the old category.

While you have the Categories list open (after you right-click), you would
need to deselect the original category to remove it from the item.

Thank you! That answers my question. I forget about the fact that tasks can
be assigned to multiple categories in 2007.

For the record, *all* types of items can be assigned to multiple items in
*all* versions of Outlook.
