WinXP MCE
NEC DVD-RW ND-3540-A

I can write DVDs happily (Nero6), but I cannot play them again in the
computer. Nor can my personal laptop (XP Pro) play them again. However, both
computers will happily play commercial DVDs.

My company laptop (XP Pro) plays these homemade DVDs without any issues.
This makes me think the issue might be software related, as my home laptop
has different hardware to my MCE machine, but shares many codecs and other
software. Meanwhile, my company laptop is the corportate build.

Installing Intervideo did not help play the DVDs though.

Any thoughts as to where I'd do best to start debugging the issue?

Thanks

Richard.

Have you updated Nero 6 ..? Using DVD+/-R or DVD+/-RW disks..?
http://www.nero.com/en/nero-up.php
http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Multimounter.html
Also, check the autoplay function, may apply..
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Use the Nero InfoTool to verify the drive can read the media type, create a
report txt file, you can cut & paste pertinent info to future posts, if
needed..
Hope this can help..

Jaymon,

Thanks for the hints. However, issue remains.

1. I'm using DVD-R disks on Nero 6 with latest patches.
2. Installed multimounter
3. Just ran the autoplay function, which reports no errors.....
