I would like to know if the Windows XP w/SP2 upgrade disk be used as a boot
disk? I do have the restore cd of Windows Me that came with the system when
it was given to me.

It is bootable, but it would require an earlier version of win to be
available, either allready installed or on cd, in order to clean install.
You may also have to enable boot from cd in the bios.

And what exactly do you mean or want? Yes the XP upgrade CD will boot the
computer. It can be used to partition, format and install XP, or to enter
the recovery console to run certain commands. If you are asking can you do
a clean install booting from the Windows XP upgrade CD, yes, but I don't
believe it will accept a recovery CD qualifying media. You could just
purchase a copy of win98 for cheap on EBay.

I copied my old HDD to a new 160GB Hdd. Once the transfer was done I was
told to remove the old and reconnect the new to the master(end) connector.
Upon rebooting It requested a boot disk. I do have the Windows Me restore
disk if it can be used and the Windows XP upgrade. I just want to install
and use the new HDD.

And how did you copy?
Is the new disk a sata disk?
A simple copy will not work
