Can we save corrupt FP program files?

After I attempt to load up one of my FP programs (that I modify and publish
almost daily), FP locks up. Because my other programs load ok, I'm assuming
that something somehow got corrupted in one (or, many) of the associated
files with the program that causes FP to go into limbo..

Is there more testing I can do to see which file(s) it might be? Is there
some way to possibly try to reconstruct the corrupted file(s)?

I appreciate your assistance,

Palmer

Run the repair function under Help.

I appreciate your quick reply.... and, I did not know about that Repair
function... thanks.

However, it appears that it will attempt to repair the current loaded ap....
but, I can't get that ap to load up without locking up FP.. (??)

Is there a way to point FP at those files without actually loading them up?

Thanks,

Palmer

You can do it from Control Panel | Add/Remove.

Which FrontPage and OS version??
If the Os is 2K or XP have you checked the event logs??

Also which "app" are you trying to launch in FrontPage, an addin, a standard system app??

By "program" do you mean web site?
If so, download FPcleaner from www.95isalive.com/fixes and run the
routines (except
"Change the Open Last Web setting"), check for correct operation of
FrontPage before running "Restore Default Toolbars and Menus", which
will reset any toolbar customisations.

Awesome.... downloaded FPcleaner... ran all but "Change the Open Last We
setting" - and, it found a BUNCH of "things" it didn't like and moved them
to Recyle Bin... Restarted FP and my ap (web site) loaded up and is running
just fine... And, so far, I can't see anything missing..

THANKS A LOT,

Palmer

I have NEVER been disappointed when I've asked for help in this NG.. You
guys are super.

Thanks again,

Palmer

PS I understand that the newest Rev of FP is much more "robust"... Should
I upgrade?? (Probably a very dumb question to ask MVPs of MS... lol) But,
I'm serious... I'm of the old school that suggests that "if it ain't broke
- don't try to fix it... "
