Can we have two OS XP PROF and DOS

Hi,

ONe can keep two operating system in SYSTEM ex

1>WINDOW XP PROF
2>WINDOWS 2000

during boot process computer ask to select one .(default : within 30
sec)

Can it be possible to have to OS

1>WINDOW XP PROF
2>DOS


what changes should be made in boot.ini file of
xp..........................

Yes, you can have DOS but the process of installing it is
probably rather involved. It depends on your disk structure.
It would be much simpler to boot the machine with a DOS
boot disk (www.bootdisk.com) or to load the Microsoft
Virtual PC (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx).

BTW, what's wrong with the Command Prompt under WinXP
or Win2000?

There would be more involved than just the boot.ini settings. You can have
multiple OS on the computer but you also have to keep in mind the
limitations of the OS you intend to install. NTFS file system won't work for
many of them and partition size is also a limiting factor.

IIRC you'd have to create a FAT partition of around 4Gig for DOS or Win95. A
FAT32 partition would be needed for Win98/ME.

It wouldn't have to be that large. I have a DOS partition that is only
30 meg.

Talking maximum, not minimum. Does seem like a lot when you think of DOS
programs.
