I had the same concern as you a couple of months ago.
I was recommended a program called "Root Kit Revealer"....Everybody said it
was the best.
Sorry, I don't have a link, but just google it.
I had no Root Kits, so I can't tell you if Anti Spyware would have found it.
JUST REMEMBER:......Before running the program, you have to rename the exe
file. The reason is simple....Root Kits are made to cloak from such programs,
but by renaming the exe file the root kit will see it as a none treat and
there for not "hide".
