Is it possible to install W2K Pro over an existing XP Pro?

No. One cannot install an older Operating System over a newer
one. A "clean install" would be required.

Windows XP Pro is vastly superior to Windows 2000.
Why would you even contemplate reverting to W2K?

When you get to be as old as I am you may have the same memories of just
how good and solid W2K was, and I believe, still is.
I suppose nostalgia is setting in. I do have XP Pro for about 3 years
now and yes, it is solid, but I am really not a bells and whistles
person. In fact, I miss the days of DOS, when I felt like I was in
complete control. Also required a pretty good memory bank in one's head
as there were no icons to rely on.. :-)

I have always used the classic theme and I have also read all the
literature you have referenced.
