Can I virtually hot swap / plug in / unplug ps/2 mice while win2k machine is on?

Just wondering if that would have any bad consequence on
the motherboard, whether the system would stop responding
or if the mouse pointer would just stop responding but
everything else.

Nick,

I certainly would not recommend this. Some years back there was a specific
make of computer where attempting this would fry the motherboard.
