I've been taking Chinese for one year and been able to open my teacher's
files in Chinese all this time. I've tried to open new documents as well as
old ones and I cannot view anything. Pls advise

Same computer. My computer crashed and took it to the shop. Everything is
the same.

It's not the same - you have no idea what the shop may have
uninstalled/installed that's preventing those documents from opening.

What happens when you try to open those files?
