Can i use two hard drives in one single home pc.

Can i use two hard drives in one single home pc.
And install windows xp professional in one hard drive and windows xp home in
another hard drive and is it legal to do so.

Yes. It's called "Dual Booting".

But why you'd want to do this with systems as similar as XP Home and
XP Pro I don't understand.

"How do I control which OS boots?"

And your answer will be...
"Use boot.ini."?

And I thought the UNIX man pages
were terse. :-)

Lol, well he didn't really ask how to do it. Just asked if he could and if
there were licensing issues. Just trying to do my part to cut down on
newsgroup pollution. (Boy I've left myself wide open with that, too...)
