How can I use superscript in Microsoft Equation (3.0)?

I constantly use Microsoft Equation 3.0 to write equations. But one problem I
always encounter and I had never been able to figure out an answer is how to
make a letter superscript. I believe I have explored every option that I know
of. In the "size" selection, there are only subscript and sub-subsubscipt.
Where is the superscript?
Thanks for helping!

Superscripts and subscripts are on the "Superscripts and subscripts" palette
on the Equation Editor toolbar. Insert the appropriate template for the
superscript and type it into the dotted box. It will be correctly formatted
automatically.

In the Equation Editor toolbar, the top row of palettes contains symbols and
the second row contains templates. When you point to something with the
mouse, the Status Bar will tell you its description. (If you're not familiar
with a "status bar", it's the bottom of the window in many applications. In
Word, with the Equation Editor open, the bottom of the Word window is the
Status Bar.) On the template palettes, click the third one from the left:
"Subscript and superscript templates". The superscript is the one in the top
left position. You need to type the base first, then click the superscript
template, then type the superscript. When you're finished with the
superscript, press the Tab key to exit the superscript template and return
to the base level.
