I bought a laptop with with the Windows Product Key (for Windows XP
Home Edition) on the sticker on the side of my computer.
now it cannot worked properly,so i need to reinstall windows xp .
I brought borrowed a Windows XP Professional Edition OEM cd from a
friend.

both my laptop and the Professional Edition OEM cd are the same
manufacturer.
Can I install this oem windows with my home edition Product key?
I just want to install home edition with the my original Product Key
not want to install a professional edition

anyone can help? thank you.

Hi,
No. You must use Windows XP Home CD so you can enter the product key from
the sticker. It is also important that the CD is OEM product.

No. Product Keys and Installation CDs must match each other with
regard to:
- Windows XP Edition (Home, Pro, Tablet, Media Center)
- Windows XP Version (Retail Upgrade, Retail Full Install, OEM, Volume
License, Value Pack, etc.)
- Language.

A difference in any one of these items will result in the Product Key
being rejected as invalid.
