Can I use Outlook from 2 different computers on one .pst file?

Hi,

Being slow on the uptake, I now have 2 computers, a desktop and a laptop.
The desktop runs XP and has accounts for me, my wife and my child.
The laptop runs Vista and has accounts with the same name and passwords
but otherwise the accounts are distinct.

Both machines have Office 2002 installed.

Is it possible to use our .pst files on the desktop (acting as a server)
from the
laptop, assuming we don't try to run Outlook on both machines at the same
time?

I assume I must share the directories the files are located in and set
appropriate
permissions.

If so do I just tell Outlook to open the file on the proper share? Is
encryption
going to be a sticking point?

Thanks,

Steve

Connecting to a pst-file on a network share is not supported or recommended
by Microsoft. The proper way would be to create a local copy and then
connect to it via File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

So how are the files to be kept synchronized?
Configure them to leave messages on the server for a while and
just hope they all get to where they are needed?

Or use an IMAP account, or run an IMAP server on your network. I do the
latter, and it works very well.
