You should update your Internet Explorer to version 6 Service Pack 1 at the
following web address.

(You can change the language of the page to whatever you feel comfortable
with).
The installer, once you have downloaded it to your computer and started the
installation, will give you a choice as to how you want to install the
program. Choose "Custom Installation". On the Custom Installation window
check ALL the elements that need to be upgraded (Outlook Express, Web
Browsing Enhancements, etc. - I don't remember then all).
(The ones you need to upgrade will NOT be in bold dark letters.) You also
have a choice to install additional Web fonts. Choose that option to upgrade
and add fonts for Windows ME English.
Finally, at the end of the list are all the other language fonts (called
Additional Language Support), which will help render and transcribe pages on
the internet correctly. I would choose ALL of these, rather
than looking at a bunch of question marks on web pages, (even if you can't
read Arabic, Vietnamese, Hebrew, Korean, etc.). Finally, choose the Global
Input Method Editor(s) (IMEs) that you will use (Chinese Simplified, etc.).
Once all your checkmarks are in place , click on install. The installer will
download and install the needed components.
Since Windows Me and Internet Explorer are so integrated, this will help
give you the best possible chance of success in adding more language support
down the road.
Once this is done, you will need to restart your computer.
Then go to Windows Update, which will scan your computer for needed updates
for Windows ME. When it’s finished download all Critical Updates. There also
might be optional updates, which you can decide if you want them, or not.
However, there might be optional updates for the Language support that you
just upgraded. I would choose all these again. Here’s the link:

After updating, run the scan again on Windows Update; sometimes there are
updates that can only update after certain updates are in place. In other
words, keep scanning until there are no more critical updates left to
download!
Support for Windows ME will be discontinued in about 6 months, I believe, so
take advantage of Windows Update while you can, going to the site at least
monthly.
Also, in Internet Explorer, once upgraded, at the top of the window choose
the Tools menu > Internet Options… > Advanced > and make sure the Install on
Demand box is checked: this will enable support for fonts, etc., as you
browse the web and install what is needed for specific sites that use further
support packages from Microsoft.
Once done with all the above (don’t skip any steps), here’s the site for

Choose the download for Windows 98/ME/NT4/2000. Read the Installation
instructions and other details. And navigate the site for more information.
