Can I use Microsoft Work. The English & French version at the same time.?

I am using Microsoft Works 2000. I would like to use Microsoft word the
French version. I install Microsoft Works 8 (The French version) but it took
over my Microsoft work 2000 (En), and now everything is in French. Is there a
way or a program (word ) I can use so I have Microsoft Works 2000(En) and
Microsoft word in French, (I can use together?.)

Thank

MS Word is supposed to be capable of handling documents in two
or more languages but does not do it very well. So far as Works is a
cut-price version of Word, I am not surprised at any problems
concerning two languages. These might be avoidable if you ran one
of the two Works apps in a VirtualPC but we may not expect MS to spend
any time or money on improving the software to handle two
languages efficiently.

(My experience suggests Word DOC format includes code indicating
default language, and the Word app alters these bytes in a DOCument
without asking the user, proceeding from the app's current setting.
(MSWord DOC is now the file format recommended by all publishers
and required by many -- a fine example of "satisficing" viz. choosing
not the best app for a task but (so long as it is good enough) the
best-known.
I used to copyedit for a history journal published in both English and
French, many items including footnotes in both languages, and MS
Word's automatica response to this was a real pain.)

That’s what I thought. The 2 don’t work together. Is there a Microsoft (Word
alone) in French, I can install in same time as Microsoft Work.? I look over
the internet but couldn't find one?
Or, if I may ask, is there another program like Microsoft word (in French),
that will work at the same time as Microsoft Work?
