I am considering upgrading from XP 32-bit to Vista 64-bit and I was
wondering if it will work without starting from a clean hard-disk?

************************************************************
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 2.2ghz
2gb Ram
Sapphire Radeon HD3850 AGP 512gb 256bit
Apevia 550Watt PSU
Maxtor 80gb (yeah, lol)

Thanks,

There's no upgrade from a 32-bit system to a 64-bit system. You'll
have to install from scratch.

None of the 32-bit versions can be upgraded to 64-bit, it's a clean
install only.

I would backup your data on a flash drive or something. Then do a complete
fresh install of windows on the computer. You could run into problems
upgrading from XP to Vista like the way you posted.
