How can I turn off Welcome screen when rebooting? I just reloaded XP, and
when I used to reboot it would straight through the startup. Now I get the
Welcome screen and have to click through it first. How can I turn this screen
off?

Thanks a lot.

1. Go to Start | Run and type in: control userpasswords2 | Ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

You can accomplish the same thing by:

Download and install TweakUI for XP and use its auto logon feature.

Lastly you can add the Dialog box that comes up when running control
userpasswords2 to the Control Panel with the following tweak:

Add Control User Passwords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

this *could* be the issue...

is your user account the only one listed on the Welcome screen?

by default, XP usually logs in the user if they are the only one listed. if
more than one exist, then it gives you the screen where you can click your
user name.

part of the .NET 1.1 framework added a user called "ASPNET" to your system.
the user is NOT listed on the welcome screen, however, XP still prompts for
you to click your username instead of automatically logging you in.

one "fix" could be to disable the ASPNET user.

i made a program that will let you easily disable or re-enable the user
account if it is needed.

you could also use TweakUI to have it automatically log in your user account
