Hi, I seem to remember seeing this setting somewhere but cannot find it for
the life of me now!

What I want to stop is the tooltip balloons that appear in the system task
tray by the clock whenever something happens, like a network connection
terminates or starts, or Media Center begins recording, etc.

Can I turn these off?

Another tip for reference, some programs can be set up for options to show
up or not in the system task.

Try to right click each icon and see if there is a "preferences" or
"properties" setting and click to see if it has an option to be removed
during startup.

Hi there,

Apply this patch to turn off Balloon Tips:

http://www.kellys-korner-
xp.com/regs_edits/balloondisable.reg

Usage: Download the file to your computer and simply
double-click it so that it would automatically get
installed. Norton anti-virus software might warn you of
a "malicious" script, this is normal if you have "Script
Safe" or similar technology enabled. I recommend you to
choose "Authorize entire script" option next Action.
