How can I turn off an SP2 feature that asks my permission to download files?

This is absurd. I click on download, and then am asked again with a drop
down window about downloading. This is bull crap, I want to turn this
"Feature" off. It doesn't exist in Firefox, so it must be a setting in
Internet Explorer. Thank you for telling me how to turn it off.

Thanks, but no thanks. I already know about how to click on the info bar,
etc... I want to block activeX that tries to autorun, but NOT downloads that
I actually click on to download. I guess I am stuck with Firefox.

You're not stuck with Firefox, Wayne - IE tweaked and secured well is as secure
as any other Browser, it's a learning process. All due respect!

You are still missing what I am talking about. In Firefox, I don't have to
click on the download link, then click again on a drop down box to get a
program or file to download. It is one extra click that I can live without.
I have worked with computers since 1983, and don't need my browser
intercepting this type of traffic. I do appreciate IE blocking the activex
program that are on some sites, as they tend to be spyware and/or trojans.
Microsoft needs to have an option to eliminate this extra click on downloads
that the user ASKs to download.

thank you for your responses anyway. I know you are just trying to help.

Use Firefox then. The security settings you dislike are default and
purposely included in SP2 for your protection.

Baloney, I don't like Microsoft doing things for MY PROTECTION when I am
quite capable of doing them for myself. Experienced users should not be
lumped in with the beginners or idiots that won't protect themsleves and
their systems.

There should be a way to turn all that default junk OFF.
