Assuming that you are using Outlook with Microsoft Exchange,
One option instead might be to use the "out-of-office" assistant to send an
automatic reply to anyone that emails you.

Email is sent if you compose and send it. If you are not around email due
to hospitalization, you will not be composing any email, correct? Just
concentrate on getting better.

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

If by chance you are referring to mail sent to you - consider having the
mail retained on the server.
