How can I turn off the clipboard option?
I prefer to never see the clipboard icon on my screen both when performing a
copy and when performing a paste.

Try to select Tools > Options > Edit tab and turn off "Show Paste Options
buttons" and test whether this is what you want (I may not read your
description correctly).
