How can I tell what process is sending stuff on my network connection?

I have XP Home with ADSL connection. As soon as I connect to the
internet I see a lot of activity on the network connection with many
KBs being sent even when I am apparently doing nothing on the
internet. One program I am suspicious of is MSN Messenger it seems to
send a lot of data even when I am not in a conversation.

Is there any way that I can check what processes are sending the
information? Are there tools to do this?

Thanks

David

www.sysinternals.com have several tools. tdimon monitors actual activity,
tcpview shows open ports with process info.
