I can not install Activesync 4.1 on my Dimension 4400 running XP Home SP 2.
When it attempts to install, a small window immdeiately pops up with
Installshield in the title bar. In the box, it says only: Command Line
Parameters: and list's 8 lines. The first line is "/L Language ID" and all
the others are similar. Nothing else happens. I have OK as a choice, and
nothing else. I can not get beyond this point. I tried to install this in
safe mode and got the same box.

G'Day Chris,

I don't know the answer to your problem, but this MIGHT help:

I recently bought a PDA, but could not install ActiveSync on the
desktop.

I WAS able to install ActiveSync in Safe Mode (with Networking
as I remember).

Pat,

Thank you for the reply. I attempted in Safe Mode, but not with Networking.
I will try that and see how it goes.

Hi Chris,

Make sure that your device is attached - that seems to be important.

I tried both connected and not connected, both safe mode and with
networking, and nothing gets me past the window that says command line
parameters, and lists 8 of them.

I guess I'll take this Treo back.

I'm sorry Chris - I guess I wasn't much help.

One last thing - If you are trying to install ActiveSync from a
CD that came with your device, try downloading and installing
it directly from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ivesync41.mspx
instead.

Good Luck!!

Chris - one final thing:

Try posting your question in Microsoft.public.pocketpc - there are a couple
of smart MSVPs there.
