how can i not allow writting in a1 if b1 is blank?
i used custom validation but it wasn't right
plz help

Try this:

Goto Data>Validation
Allow: Custom
Formula: =B1<>""
Uncheck Ignore blank
OK

I left out the most important part........

Select the cell you want this to be applied to, assume cell A1.

Then do:

> Goto Data>Validation
> Allow: Custom
> Formula: =B1<>""
> Uncheck Ignore blank
> OK
