Regards Word 2007--Is there any way to stop people from copying text without
using the password protection?

I would think not. The possibility to copy text is normally related to
both the application rather and the settings of the document. There
very well might be a way to tell Word 2007 to not copy text from a
document, but another document reader might totally ignore this option
and allow copying. (A similar discussion is often made about the
possibility to print protected pdf files through alternative pdf
readers)

Thank you, Yves. That is very helpful, and a clear explanation.

There is no way on earth that you can prevent someone from copying a
document of any description that you allow them to view. You can merely make
it a little more difficult for the layman to do - but it is not the layman
who would want to copy your document in the first place, so you make it more
difficult for the ordinary user to use the document and barely interfere
with the ability of the less reputable user to copy.
