Hello, everytime I turn my computer on and it boots up, it takes forever
because IE opens up and connects automatically. How can I shut that feature
off? I have AOL and I don't need IE to open up automatically. I am also
connecting using DSL. Help, I have tried searching in the tools but not sure
where to look. Can I turn it off?

Remove IE from your StartUp folder.(Right click Start and choose open. Then
double click Programs and then Startup. Delete the shortcut to Internet
Explorer.)

I have XP. Does that make a difference? Is it supposed to automatically open
up and connect when the PC is turned on?
Thanks.

I did that and when I click on Startup that folder is empty. Nothing there. I
have also clicked on start, run and typed msconfig for the startup in system
configuration and looked for it in there and I did not see it in there too.
Thanks.

Not by default. It means that someone or some third party program has
changed the defaults.

I've been having this same problem for over a year and have tried everything,
including checking my Startup folder. This problem (suspiciously) started
happening around the same time I started using Firefox almost exclusively.
Any other ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
