When outlook 2007 does a 'send and receives' my PC it navigates away from
other programs I am using so, e.g. if I am typing in word, for the period of
time it sends/receives any keys/letters typed do not appear in the document.
It means that you can be typing away and realise you have whole words or
lines of text missing. If the navigation sound is selected then it clicks as
it navigates away and back.

Can I set send and receive to run in the background so that I can continue
working without this annoying feature.

I am running Vista with the latest service pack

The following feature is available in OL2002/2003 so presumably it still
exists in OL2007 although menu navigation may differ:

Tools -> Send and Receive -> Send and Receive Settings -> Show Progress

After opening that dialog, enable the option to not show it anymore.
